When trying to find the right dance class for your child (or yourself!), the cost of tuition is an important factor.
Be careful when you compare the tuition at one dance studio to the tuition at another, as many dance studios have substantial required fees above and beyond tuition.
At most dance studios in the greater New Haven area—not including Neighborhood Music School—the price for a ten-month, weekly hour-long dance class might range anywhere from $495 to $675. That might seem like a reasonable amount, but there are often additional hidden fees that make the actual cost much higher.
Required additional fees may include:
As you research dance studios, be sure to ask about and then carefully compare prices for tuition, fees, costumes, photos, tickets, and all other required expenses. Remember that at most dance studios, tuition is only one part of the overall cost of taking a dance class.
Neighborhood Music School dance classes offer an all-inclusive price with no hidden fees.
A weekly hour-long dance class at Neighborhood Music School (NMS) costs $855 for ten months (September to June) with no hidden costs:
Students can apply for financial aid, which is rarely available at other dance studios.
We also offer a Dance Multi-Class Discount, which offers students 50% off their second and any additional Dance & Wellness classes.
The bottom line: taking dance classes at NMS usually costs less than taking dance at other local studios.
Our Dance & Wellness classes, ensembles, and lessons provide a nurturing environment for students of all ages and skill levels.
Our approach to dance instruction is rooted in our Collaborative Choreography Initiative (CCI), which is unique to NMS. We believe that when students are involved in the choreographic process, they benefit socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically. In other words, they benefit as a whole person.
Through CCI, our teaching artists establish a safe environment that accommodates each student’s needs and enables all dancers to work collaboratively to create original choreography. Students learn tools, ideas, and strategies for developing choreography, including the ability to analyze and articulate movement. They practice higher-order thinking skills and life skills such as problem-solving, leadership, cooperation, and team-building as they work to create and refine dance phrases with their classmates. Students build confidence in themselves, both as people and as dancers, while collaboratively building a finished piece for our year-end performance.
Our Wellness classes complement our Dance classes. We bring an artistic and creative focus to our fitness-based classes that isn’t found anywhere else. Our Wellness classes welcome everyone in our community who is interested in improving their health, fitness, and quality of life.
