NMS Concerto Competition

The NMS Concerto Competition provides extraordinary performance opportunities to selected winners in the Junior and Senior Divisions each year: winning students are able to perform as soloists with one of the Greater New Haven Youth Ensembles. The competition is open to current NMS students in grades 5-12.

Renée B. Fisher Competition

The Renée B. Fisher Competition aims to nurture the growth and development of young pianists, reward them for outstanding achievement in the classical repertoire, and encourage them to acquaint themselves with, and to perform, contemporary music. Winners receive a cash prize and perform at the Winners Concert. There are two levels: Elementary/Middle School (through grade 8) and High School (through grade 12). Applicants must currently live or study in Connecticut.

Festivals

Each year, we host a variety of festivals to allow our students and teaching artists to come together around a specific instrument, pedagogy, composer, or theme. In recent years, we have had festivals centered on brass and wind instruments, the piano, the Suzuki method, and the works of Ludwig van Beethoven.
