MOVEMENT FOR LIFE

WHAT IS MOVEMENT FOR LIFE?

Movement for Life is a community movement and mobility program, developed from the Dance for PD® program.

NMS offers movement and mobility classes that are free and open to everyone. We partner with local healthcare providers to offer Dance for PD® programming, and with senior living facilities to offer on-site classes for residents.

In our Movement for Life classes, participants are empowered to explore movement and music in ways that are refreshing, creative, stimulating, and enjoyable. The class focuses on balance, flexibility, coordination, and gait, while building confidence and connection along the way.

Classes are open to everyone including those managing movement disorders, neurological conditions, or simply looking to stay active and engaged. Participants enjoy creative expression and social interaction with others in a supportive, low-pressure setting.

No movement or dance experience is necessary, and participants of all ambulatory abilities are welcome, including companions, and visitors. (While many may experience health benefits or the alleviation of symptoms, it should be noted that this program is not intended to be a therapeutic offering.)

"For 90 minutes each week, I step into class and set aside the limits and anxieties of daily life and join others in true respite. Time slows in the presence of music, movement, and a joyful, fine-tuned teacher. Even the simplest movements build fluidity where there was once rigidity. There is no judgment here — only the freedom to do what I can with joy, laughter, and creativity. I focus on what remains strong in me, not what's been lost. I walk out standing taller, steadier, and more balanced, inside and out."
