Neal DeLaurentis brings over 30 years of experience working with domestic and international nonprofit organizations. Most recently, he served as the Deputy Director of an organization focused on teaching trauma therapy to community mental health centers both in the U.S. and abroad. Neal has dedicated 25 years to international economic development, specializing in micro and small business creation and expansion in emerging markets and countries undergoing social and economic transition. Notably, he spent 20 of those years as a senior manager for a $250 million social impact fund, with investments spanning Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, Central America, and the Caribbean.
Throughout his career, Neal has served on the boards of several microfinance and banking institutions, and he currently serves as the board chair of a community investment fund supporting projects across Bulgaria. Locally, he is the treasurer of the board of the New Haven Lawn Club Preservation Trust and is honored to be part of the latest cohort of board members at the Neighborhood Music School (NMS). Neal was inspired to join the NMS board after witnessing the profound impact the school had on his son, who spent 10 years at NMS learning the cello, participating in ensembles, and ultimately joining the New Haven Youth Orchestra.
Earlier in his career, Neal was among the first group of Peace Corps Volunteers in Russia,serving from 1992 to 1995. Before that, he worked in commercial banking in Connecticut. He holds a B.S. in Finance from Villanova University and an M.P.A. from the University of New Hampshire.
