Leon Bailey

It is my intention to live as a transformative leader whose career in human resources has been defined by a deep commitment to justice, inclusion, and the power of human dignity. As Senior Vice President for Human Resources, I have worked hard at bringing contribution to the strategic vision and compassionate leadership to the heart of organizational culture, championing policies and practices that uplift every voice and foster belonging.

I believe that I am guided by a profound religious conviction, as I choose to live my faith through action—working tirelessly to dismantle systemic barriers and build pathways toward racial equity. My leadership is rooted in the belief that every person is created with inherent worth, and that communities and workplaces should reflect the values of fairness, grace, and accountability.

With decades of experience in shaping inclusive environments, I would like to believe that I am becoming a trusted voice in the movement for equity and reconciliation. My work is not just professional—it is personal, spiritual, and purpose-driven. Whether mentoring emerging leaders, designing equitable talent strategies, or speaking truth to power, I would like to think that I embody a leadership style that is both courageous and compassionate.

Neighborhood Music School speaks to me as music has always been a part of my life. The trumpet was the instrument of my youth through high school and into college. The most memorable events were in band. The shared experience of music in that type of community experience remains as an insatiable appetite that remains to this day. NMS develops new and old talent in the ever-present community of music—that speaks volumes to me.
