Judy Offutt

Music is a part of my life and history.  My great-grandparents were traveling musicians in England and immigrated to the United States in the late 1800s.  My great-grandfather played the upright bass for the Milwaukee Symphony orchestra and is noted for playing in the King's coronation.  My grandmother rang English handbells, played the violin and piano, and sang in the church choir.  My mother and father sang in the church choir.  I learned flute in the school band and begged to have piano lessons in middle school. I play in a flute trio, perform classical piano solos, and ring English handbells in church.  My immediate family has participated in various NMS activities with lessons in dance, piano, voice, and upright bass.

Daughter of a United Methodist minister, I grew up in Kentucky and I am a graduate of Lambuth College and Vanderbilt University.  My husband and I moved to New Haven over 30 years ago.  I have worked at Yale University for more than 27 years implementing HR business applications including payroll, benefits, time tracking, absence, and recruiting and I have certifications in Project Management and Business Analysis.  When not giving my time to work and my local church, I love sailing with friends and have enjoyed racing 36-foot yachts in Long Island Sound.

I wholeheartedly support the NMS mission in the community and look forward to giving my time to the work of the school.
