Join us for an evening of music presented in two parts.

The first half features performances by NMS teaching artists Richard Hagemann (piano), Adam Matlock (piano), and Emily Miclon (marimba), with Laura Richling (piano), exploring two distinct approaches to the chorale tradition through Julius Eastman’s Gay Guerilla and György Kurtág’s transcriptions of Bach chorales—thoughtful, powerful works that invite reflection and close listening.

The second half features Clare Byrne & The Celestials, with NMS teaching artist Clare Byrne (guitar), and guest artists Nicholas Leichter (piano) and Amy Larimer (vocals and hand percussion), and live dance by fellow NMS teaching artists Amy Valente, Suzanne Sepe, and Erin Guerrara. Original songs blend folk, blues, and gospel through acoustic and electric textures, with spacious vocal harmonies and incisive lyrics.
