Musical Theater Workshop Performance:
Happily, Ever After?
Saturday, June 1, 4:00 $15 admission
We dream about happy endings to stories. This is probably due to the fact that happy endings were part of stories we read as children. How would we feel about our beloved childhood storybook characters if they had never found their happy endings? Tonight’s show poses a big problem for our fairytale characters. They are stuck in their story that seems to have no ending. They are just “Waiting and Waiting and Waiting!” After a while, they decide to take matters into their own hands. The characters find out that there’s strength in numbers and solve problems by working together.
This wonderful group of students ages 8- 18 have done just that! They banded together and worked toward their very own Happily, Ever After? They embraced the idea of ‘workshopping’ and performing an original piece and never looked back! I am so proud of their commitment and dedication to this project!
Happily, Ever After? was conceived out of a need to showcase a young group of child actors. This original script is accompanied by musical theater standards to showcase young voices and their acting talents. I believe this property gives each and every performer a moment to “shine”.
Many thanks to the people that supported our Happily, Ever Afters?. I would like to thank Tracey Albert and the NMS Dance Department for their unwavering support of this program. I would also like to thank the Happily, Ever After? production team, Dan Gurvich, the faculty and staff of NMS, and the parents and students who have been so supportive throughout the year. I would also like to thank my partner and cohort, Jennifer Sciglibaglio, our Music Director! She has been a wonderful addition to our workshop who offered her support and creativity to help make this project a reality!
