Martha grew up in both the New Haven area and Berkeley CA. She earned her BA from Earlham College and an MPH from Emory University in Atlanta and has worked in Public Health ever since. She began dancing in college as a result of a gymnastics injury, and instantly fell in love. She studied Ballet with Cecelia Beam at Third Wave in San Francisco, as well as various studios in the Bay Area. Martha was assigned as movement coach for several theatre productions at Earlham College, and had the opportunity to perform in “Quinx” at San Francisco War Memorial under the guidance of Cecelia Beam. While working in an exercise intervention trial for Breast Cancer Survivors, through the Yale School of Public Health, Martha became an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer, and Cancer Exercise Trainer, and has more recently added specialty certifications in Senior Fitness, Balance and Stability, and Fall Prevention. She is a certified Zumba, and Strong, by Zumba instructor. She also completed the Finis Jh ung Ballet Instructor Training in New York in 2015. Martha has been on the Neighborhood Music School Dance Faculty since 1999, and is currently Co-owner of Forever Fitness, LLC, a personal fitness training studio located in Hamden CT.
