Elaine Z. Thoma celebrated her 27th year on the flute faculty teaching students from ages 6 to 80+. She also coaches chamber ensembles and books the 4 premier ensembles into the greater New Haven area community. Elaine is an active freelance performer in many diverse genres; such as the Connecticut Flute Orchestra, the Thoma Fitzpatrick Flute and Guitar duo, the Wallingford Symphony Orchestra and several classical chamber ensembles. She holds a dual degree in flute performance and music education from Syracuse University, graduate studies at Boston University, Tanglewood Summer Institute and Academie Internationale d’ete in Nice,France where studied with Jean Pierre Rampal. Other prominent teachers include James Pappoutsakis, Robert Stallman, Andras Adorjan and James Galway. As a certified Suzuki instructor, Elaine embraces teaching very young children with a beautiful tone and expressive playing. She is also a certified regional and All State adjudicator in all 6 New England states and New York.
