Introducing: Notable Neighbors!

Diversity, as in variety, is an important element of growth.
To get enough nutrients to sustain our bodies, we are told to eat vegetables of every color. We must play a variety of repertoire in order to develop into well-rounded musicians. Choreographers learn to use many different spaces and levels – high and low, left and right – as they develop their toolkits.
At NMS, one of our greatest strengths is our diverse community. We celebrate each individual, nurture lasting relationships, create a sense of belonging, and understand that we are stronger when we learn from our differences. Our students are many different races, ethnicities, backgrounds, genders, religions, and ideologies. They range in age from 6 months to 90+ years, coming from more than 80 cities and towns across the state. We sing, we act, we dance, we play drums, pianos and jazz. This diversity is what makes NMS a special place of learning and growth for so many.
Beginning today, we are launching a new twice monthly newsletter to celebrate the NMS community. We will feature stories about our current students and alumni, and learn from and about our talented and passionate teaching artists.
I hope these stories fill you with hope for all the things possible in the human spirit.
The people of NMS continue to inspire me every day.
