Sub-Verse at NMS. Saturday, September 14, 7:00 pm. More information to come.
Sub–Verse is an Edgy electro-acoustic trio with old knob synths and drum machines from the late 60’s early 70’s, acoustic and electronic drums mixed with samples, and piano/keyboards. Sub–Verse’s sonic influences range from ambient music, modern classical music, the Residents, fusion jazz and rock, Morton Feldman, Nick Drake, Ligeti, Portishead, Radiohead, to name a few. Some of it is fairly tonal and ambient, some of it is extremely hectic high energy and dissonant. Its hard to pinpoint a “style” but without a doubt, there are hints of Zappa, Miles, Cecil Taylor, Pink Floyd, and pure unfettered improvisation. We’ve gotten used to each other to the point where we can read each others’ minds musically. Its almost creepy, actually. At many of our shows we are extremely fortunate to have the incredible Jamie Burnett do beautiful and creative lighting- sometimes projections, etc. He is able to transform and ordinary space into a magical one.
Loop2.4.3’s sound ranges from classical percussion to rock, and the ensembles change from duets to quartets depending on the works performed. There is sometimes a hint of a pop influence- but through a unique “filter” that is Loop2.4.3.
