COVID-19 Update – March 12

Dear NMS students and families,

Out of an abundance of caution, Neighborhood Music School will close beginning tomorrow, Friday, March 13, and we will remain closed through next week. As we continue to evaluate the emerging and rapidly evolving situation regarding COVID-19, we will make a determination on when to reopen and will notify families at that time.

Since our communication yesterday, we have been closely monitoring local, state and national health agencies, and there has been much for us to consider.

Upon recommendation from the City of New Haven Health Department and following the lead of New Haven Public Schools, NMS has made this cautious and difficult decision to close.

Please rest assured, we are committed to providing a complete educational experience for our students by extending the Academic Year.

Understandably, many in our community have questions and practical concerns associated with this decision. To that end, our administrative team and Board are working through all the details necessary to support our community at this time. It would be disingenuous to suggest that we currently have complete answers to all the questions and concerns that have been and will be raised by members of our community. That said, you should expect regular and ongoing communications from me. Messages will be emailed, posted on social media, our website, and our voice mail.

Wishing you and your families the best,

Noah Bloom
Executive Director
