Summer Jazz allows promising musicians a chance to explore the different genres of jazz with a rich and vibrant history in New Haven, and a strong presence here at NMS, under the guidance of notable jazz drummer Jesse Hameen II, who leads the program. This five-day intensive, now celebrating its 23rd year, offers small ensembles, big bands, theory, master classes and jam sessions, all taught by NMS faculty and noted guest clinicians. Participants learn from the best, and top off the week with a student concert! Summer Jazz is for those ages 12 and up with a minimum of two years experience. Students under the age of 12 may be admitted with permission of the program director.
